The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation, High Chief Dr. Boniface Ifeanyi Ariekpere Ajuzie has called on Abia State Government ably led by His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Oti OFR to come to the immediate assistance of the pupils, students and management of the School for the Blind Afara, Umuahia, Abia State.

The call was made during a visit by the Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation to the school where they donated various items including cash to assist the students in their day-to-day activities.

Citing the high cost of living in the country, and the difficulty for many Nigerian families to take care of their immediate needs and economic challenges, Miss Dollaress Ajuzie, the General Administrative Manager of Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation, said it’s most difficult and nearly impossible for the physically challenged to take care of themselves without the support and assistance from the government, public-spirited Nigerians and organizations.

Speaking through the Director General, Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation, Deacon Ahamefula, Chief Ariekpere appealed to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, whom he described as a caring father and leader, who has dedicated his entire life to the public sector to personally visit the school to see for himself, believing that the visit will afford him the first-hand details of the unfortunate plight of the school with the view to ensuring that they get the needed government attention.

Also speaking, Lolo Ijeoma Nwachukwu believed that the school needs portable water, toilets, braille, beds, and food items, describing what was met on the ground as an eye sore and described the school as unfit for human habitation, and worst for people that are physically challenged.

In response, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Benedicta Onyeogaziri thanked Oma Nma Life Saving and Health Foundation for remembering Afara School for the Blind and their students, while appealing to well-meaning citizens to emulate the gesture of High Chief Dr. Boniface Ifeanyi Ariekpere Ajuzie in showing love, care, sacrifice to the less privilege in the society most importantly the Oma Nma Foundation mantra of Life Saving and Health Care for the needy, while also calling for Abia state government attention.
